Nuwara-Eliya
This city is located 1889 meters above from the Sea
level. was a popular hill station of British. The town
is in the middle of the tea growing country. Nuwera
Eliya is also the heart of Srilanka's teacountry
producing a significant share of the world's best tea.
Nuwera Eliya is the summer holiday resort for
Srilankans in April. This is a very popular city among
Srilankan honeymooners.
Nuwera Eliya has a number of British colonial
buildings. Grand Hotel , Hotel Hill Club. Old post
office are some of them. There is a well kept central
Park which comes alive with flowers around March to May
and August to September. The plesant Gregory's lake just
south of the town is encircled by a variety of walking
paths.

Mt Pedro, as Pidurutalagala is also known, is the
highest mountain in Srilanka at 2524 meters from Sea
level.. The second hill county botanic garden also
situated here which is called Hakgala. Originally
cinchona was planted here. Today this is a beautiful
hilly garden. famed for its rose and ferns, about 10
Km out of Nuwera Eliya.The name Hakgala means Jaw
Rock
A visit to Horton plain is a famous excursion from
Nuwera Eliya. This is located 2124 meters from sea
level.The plains are an expanse of misty grassland
with scraggy trees and cold rivulets. Visit the"
world's End" considered to be the finest view in all
